US Box Office Weekend Report 16th - 18th October 2020: Liam Neeson returns to the action genre in Honest Thief which debuts at number 1

Honest Thief
Liam Neeson takes over from Robert De Niro this weekend in Honest Thief which makes a very strong (in the current climate) debut at the top and pushing The War With Grandpa down to number 2.

With last weeks top film falling to number 2 there are a couple of catalogue movies in the lower end of the top 5, expected due to the lack of blockbuster movies getting released.

2 hearts

Further down the chart there are a few new movies, 2 Hearts is new at number 6, Love And Monsters makes its debut at number 9 and The Kid Detective one below at number 10.

Here is this weeks US box office Quickview.

  • Number 1 - Honest Thief (1st Week)
  • Highest debut - Honest Thief (@1)
  • Longest run - Unhinged (10 weeks)
  • Highest total gross (excluding re-releases) - Tenet ($50,600,000)

Here is the breakdown of this weeks US top 5 movies 16th - 18th October 2020.

Honest Thief

Liam Neeson returns to the revenge action genre with this movie directed by Mark Williams which makes its North American debut at the top with $4.2 Million (including previews), $3.7 Million Friday - Sunday.

The War With Grandpa

Falling to number 2 after a single week at the top is the Tim Hill directed comedy starring Robert De Niro which this weekend taked $2.5 Million, falling 31% from last weekend.

This gives the movie a total US gross of $7.2 Millon after 10 days of release.

Tenet
