North American top 5 breakdown box office weekend 29th - 31st October 2021

Dune

Easily taking a second weekend at the top of the US box office Denis Villeneuve's vision of the classic sci-fi noval takes $15.5 Million, a 61% drop over last weekend.

The movie, which has just has a sequel green lit, has now taken $69.4 Million at the US box office on its way to $100 Million which it should have by next weekend.

Halloween Kills

It was the Halloween weekend and the namesake movie hanks onto the box office number 2 slot for a second week with a gross of $8.5 Million, a very good 41% drop over last weekend.

This gives the movie a total gross of $85.6 Million over its 3 weeks of release which is looking good for the third part of the new trilogy, Halloween Ends, which is set for release in 2022.

No Time To Die

The latest Bond movie hald firm at number 3 with a $7.8 Million weekend gross, a very slim 34% drop over last weekend.

The movie has taken $133.3 Million in the US over 4 weeks of release and is the 6th top movie of 2021.

My Hero Academia: World Heroes' Mission

Highest new movie of the weekend comes in at number 4 this week with the Japanese superhero manga comic book adaptation.

The animated movie takes a very good $6.4 Million over the weekend.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage

Sony's Spiderverse villain movie falls to number 5 this weekend with a gross of $5.7 Million, a slim 37% drop over last week, giving the movie a 5 weekend total of $190.4 Million and the 2nd top movie of 2021 having overtaken Black Widow.

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn turns his attention to the DC Extended Universe to bring us The Suicide Squad which has been given a 15 age rating by the BBFC.

The movie stars among other Idris Elba, Viola Davis and returning as Harley Quinn for a third time in movies Margot Robbie.

The movie is directed by James Gunn who brings us his take on the comic book replacing David Ayer who brought us the 2016 adaptation.

Sending in the most dangerous group of Supervillains Bloodsport, Peacemaker, King Shark, Harley Quinn to name a few, the government want them to infiltrate the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese.

They have the best high-tech weapons to fight with as they trek through the dangerous jungle on a search-and-destroy mission, with only Col. Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave.

Produced and written by Andrew Lloyd Webber the stage version of Cats has been a massive hit across the globe, and today we get the first trailer for the big screen adaptation.

Directed by Tom Hooper who brought the hit musical Les Misérables to the big screen the film stars the likes of Dame Judy Dench and Sir Ian McKellen to name but a few in the star studded cast.

It looks like a very faithful version of the stage show is being brought to the screen and as the trailer demonstrates all your favourite songs will be present and correct.

With a release date of December 20th Christmas will be all about Cats as well as the Galaxy Far Far Away.

It's 3 weeks at the top of the Box Office for Les Miserable this weekend with competition from 2 other Oscar contenders proving not enough to remove it.

A strong 3rd weekend gross of £4 million brings the movies total gross to £24.6 million for the hit musical adaptation.

With Django Unchained staying put at number 2 it meant that highest new film, Lincoln enters the box office at number 3, the Spielberg directed bio-pic of the famous president managed £s;1.7 million on it's debut.

This time last year another Spielberg film was holding firm at the top of the box office, War Horse took just over £2 million over the weekend.
