This week on the world box office the live action version of The Jungle Book retains its place at the top amid little competition, the film is out in 54 countries.

The Disney movie has taken $153 million this week across the globe which brings its world gross to and incredible $528.4 million.

In anticipation of a major new release this week there were no new releases on the world box office this week.

Highest total grossing move on release across the globe this week is Zootopia which has now passed the $900 million mark with $907.1 million, a billion is not far away now.

  1. The Jungle Book - $156,803,000
  2. Huntsman: Winter's War - $52,180,250
  3. Zootopia - $17,411,000
  4. Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice - $13,820,000
  5. Barbershop: The Next Cut - $10,830,000

  9. Eye In The Sky - $3,118,990
  10. My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 - $2,827,465

There was only one film in contention this week across the globe as Disney's live remake of their classic animation The Jungle Book smashes its way to the top.

A very wide world release in its second week of 50 countries gives the film, directed by Jon Favreau, a fantastic $239.6 million.

Although this is the films second week of global release it was out a week early in some countries, but the full global release mean the film has now made $290.9 million globally.

Falling into second place is Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice, although being considered a disappointment the film has now made a massive $827.3 million, it could still make a billion.

Highest new film is Barbershop: The Next Cut which entered the global box office at number 3, not bad considering the film is only out in America, it takes $20.2 million on its debut.

Highest total grossing film is Zootopia which has a world gross of $882.2 million and is currently at number 4, if the film can hang around until summer it could see a billion.

Here is the full top 10 across the globe:

  1. The Jungle Book - $239,667,000
  2. Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice - $24,110,000
  3. Barbershop: The Next Cut - $20,210,000
  4. Zootopia - $19,035,000
  5. Huntsman: Winter's War - $17,600,000
  6. The Boss - $12,672,535
  7. London Has Fallen - $9,304,000
  8. Criminal - $7,850,000 $2,000,000
  9. Kung Fu Panda 3 - $7,768,000
  10. 10 Cloverfield Lane - $5,050,000

This week in the US the live action version of The Jungle Book from Disney dominates the box office with a higher than expected debut.

The film was released in a massive 4,028 cinemas across North America and took and incredible $103.5 million dollars including Thursday night previews.

The Disney live action versions of their classic cartoon are really setting the cinema alive, last year Kenneth Branagh brought us Cinderella which was a massive hit not Jon Favreau brings us The Jungle Book.

As expected last weeks top film The Boss fall quite heavily to number 3 with $10.1 million which brings its total gross to $40.3 million.

Also new in America this week is Barbershop: The Next Cut at number 2 and Criminal new at number 6.
