The top total grossing film of the week was Pretty Woman which had taken £11.7 Million after 5 weeks of release.

This week the Simon Pegg/Nick Frost written film Paul tops the UK box office chart with a weekend take of £5,517,121. The film from the producers of Hot Fuzz have taken their craft to America to make a film about a couple of geeks seeking out aliens in Area 51, only to find one that sounds like Seth Rogan.

Dropping a single place after one week is Gnomeo and Juliet which has another impressive weekend with £2,223,978 taking its total gross to £6,373,301.

Still riding a high on its award buzz, and it wont stop anytime soon with the big one coming this weekend, is The Kings Speech, another million plus weekend with £1,685,180 which brings it's total now to £37,127,599.

True Grit this week falls to number 4 with £1,466,979 while Martin Lawrence flogs a dead horse at 5 with a new Big Mommas House film, this time dragging his poor son into the equation with a weekend take of £1,433,778.

A stella weekend last week has meant that the top 7 films on the chart all took above £1 million.

Compared to this time last year the chart is much higher is grosses. Last year Avatar was still doing massive business at the box office as the 3D tax was really starting to show how far it can take the gross of a film while The Princess and the Frog from Disney was still doing well at 2, highest new entry was Peter Jackson's The Lovely Bones at 3.
