As the UK gets closer to cinemas re-opening the only movies getting a release at the moment are on streaming.

This week we have the animated feature The Mitchells Vs. the Machines, previously called Connected, hitting the on-line service.

The movie has had great reviews and if you are a subscriber it could well be worth checking out.

The Mitchells Vs. the Machines

• The movie is from director Michael Rianda and Jeff Rowe
• It is their directorial debut.
• It stars Olivia Colman who last starred in Them That Follow (2019).
• The film also stars Abbi Jacobson who last appeared in The Lego Ninjago Movie (2017).

Please note that last week we reported that the new Mortal Kombat movie was being released, but the movie got put back to May 6th.

There are no new movies out next week but come May 17th there are a whole host of new film hitting cinemas.

Paramount Pictures have released the first trailer for Sonic The Hedgehog which reveals the redesigned Sonic after the fan backlash of the original look and feel.

After the original trailer for 202's Sonic The Hedgehog film there was a sizeable amount of backlash from fans about the artistic design for the title character, so much so that the director Jeff Fowler publicly apologised and said he'd do a redesign.

Paramount have not released a new trailer with a character reveal, and on the whole it is being received a lot better.

Outside the controversy the film stars Jim Carey as Doctor Robotnik and is set for release Valentines Day 2020.

The trailer is good but concentrates more of Sonic and his look and speed and little on the actual film, so we'll have to wait for the next trailer for more story.

There is also a new poster worth checking out which at least features Jim Carey in a very overpowering pose.

Next summer Disney continue their current trend of live action remakes with the Jon Favreau directed The Lion King.

Judging from this first trailer we are in for a treat as the cinematography looks fantastic and the look and feel of the cartoon are there front and centre on the screen.

The trailer is well worth checking out if only for the James Earl Jones voice over and the excellent recreation of the famous animated trailer.

Peter Jackson has treated us to a new The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey trailer today, and it's well worth checking out.

I am really looing forward to this film, and it will be absolutely fantastic, and more importantly a great addition to a film series he started with The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, but I have to say that despite the lush settings, amazing photography, and mind blowing scenery, this is no where near as good as the original trailer.
