It has been announced that Ben Affleck will wear the Batman outfit in the Superman/Batman film crossover which was announced during Comic Con 2013.

The film will be a sequel to the recent Superman reboot Man of Steel, but with Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan producing it has a relationship with the recent Batman films.

Fans were hoping that Christian Bale who played the superhero in those recent Dark Knight films would play Batman but he recently ruled himself out.

This isn't the first time Affleck has dipped his toes in a superhero franchise, he took the lead role in 2003‘s Daredevil which was panned by critics and fans alike.

This isn't the best casting, Affleck is a decent actor, and a decent dramatic actor, his Oscar wins this year were deserved, but I just cant see him in the Batman role, Bruce Wayne is a billionaire playboy and I don't get that when I think of Affleck.

The new film is set for a 2015 release, July 17th in the US so expect a UK release either the same time or there about.

The Die Hard series continues to pull in audiences 25 years after the original film hit cinemas.

Bruce Willis, the undisputed star of the series, plays John Mclain again, the New York cop who seems to always find him self in difficult situations with guns! A Good Day to Die Hard is the highest new film and the new number one film with an opening gross of £4.5 million.

Other new films this week are This is 40 at 3, Beautiful Creatures at 5 and Sammy Great Escape, a sequel to 2010's A Turtles Tale, is new at 8.

A year ago The Woman in Black was still riding the top of the chart while Nicholas Cage was the star of the highest new film at 3. Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengence.

Five years ago Jumper debuted at the top of the box office becoming the highest new film and the number one film.

Ten years ago Hugh Grant was able to hang onto the top spot in Two Weeks Notice keeping Daredevil from the top which was the highest new film at 2.

Fifteen years ago Titanic was still at the top of the UK chart with the Kevin Klein starring In and Out the highest new film at 3.

As happens each year the night before the Oscar nominations are announced the Razzie nominations are announced which celebrated the worst in cinematic achievements through the year.

Leading the field this year is the Transformers sequel, Revenge of the Fallen, which lets face it was truly awful and in the field for worst film along with All About Steve, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Land of the Lost and Old Dogs should win quite comfortably.

As these awards are something which are not taken too seriously, even by the foundation, in the worst actor category we have all 3 Jonas brothers up for a single nomination, in the same category we have Will Ferrell, Steve Martin, Eddie Murphy (who has had his fare share of nominations) and John Travolta.

Worst actress nods go to Beyonce, Sandra Bullock, Myley Cyrus, Megan Fox and Sarah Jessica Parker, and guess which of these was in the Transformers movie that may just pip the rest at the post.

The categories are not in the usual fashion and there is a category for Worst Screen Couple for which the Jonas brothers feature again and Worst Remake, Rip-off or Sequel, which of course the Transformers film appears in.

As we celebrated the end of a decade last year there are also categories for picture, actress and actor that were the worst of the naughties.
