The marketing push for No Time To Die, the 25th James Bond 007 movie, has started to kick in with just 3 months to go before its November 12th release, a new poster on Tuesday and a new trailer today starts what will be one of the biggest campaigns for a Bond movie, Daniel Craigs last.

The trailer gets going after a predictable first minute with Bond throwing himself off yet another high structure, it then starts to show a little promise without giving too much of the movie away, and as is standard with Bond movies trailers these days it shows off plenty of stunt work and it looks incredible.

The story as we know it has a retired Bond being approached by old friend Felix Leiter, played once again by Jeffrey Wright, to rid the word of a mysterious villain known simply as Safin, played by Rami Malek.

Daniel Craig looks as dishevelled as Bond as ever, and in what looks like a promising move, maybe he's sharing the spotlight this time, as we know Lea Seydoux is returning as Madeleine Swann who Bond ended up with at the end of SPECTRE and she gets good screentime, also as we know Bond has retired in this movie and Lashana Lynch looks fantastic as Bonds replacement, and is she his equal?

After the movie got its release date movie due to the COVID-19 pandemic we don't have long to wait now until we get to see Daniel Craigs last ever outing as Bond, hankies at the ready.

Although cinemas are far from back to normal in the US many cinemas have opened, although with limited capacity and many are making their audiences wear masks which are putting people off going back, The New Mutants tops the weekend with the closest thing to a pre-pandemic gross since mid March.

The Mutant movie was joined by Bill And Ted and David Copperfield as new releases on the top 5 which the top 3 all grossed over a million dollars.

There are a number of other bog new films released in the comping weeks including Tenet, Wonder Woman 1984 and Black Widow which should all mean a growth in cinema going.

Here is the top 5 movies in the US weekend 28th - 30th August 2020.

The New Mutants

The movie had a troubled journey to the cinema having its release date movies a number of time, more recently because of the coronavirus but also due to scheduling problems and the 20th Century Fox buyout from Disney.

It has finally got the cinema and whether by design or not it is the first big release to hit the top since cinemas closed in mid March and it does so with a $7 Million debut.

Unhinged

After hitting the top last weekend the Russell Crowe movie falls to number 2 this weekend with $2.6 Million giving the movie a $8.8 Million total after 3 weeks.

Bill & Ted Face the Music

The movie should have come out earlier in the year before it was announced it would get a simultaneous movie theatre and VOD release.

The movie lands on the box office at number 3 with a debut gross of just over a million dollars, digital number are hard to come by.

The Personal History of David Copperfield

The movie hit the Uk box office back in January of this year and was a sizeable hit, after a couple of delays the movie hits US movie theatres with a $520K debut weeekend.

Words On Bathroom Walls

After entering the box office at number 3 last weekend the Thor Freudenthal directed movie falls to 5 with a weekend gross of $453K.

This takes the movies total gross to $1.08 MIllion after 2 weeks on the box office.

Stopping London Has Fallen in its tracks after only one week at the top King Fu Panda 3 flies in with a high kick that no one could stop.

Taking a reasonable £4.7 million from the weekend this is the lowest debuting film for the series to date.

Kung Fu Panda 2 and the original broth managed to gross in the region of £6 million on their debuts.

With Disney's Zootopia just round the corner and getting great reviews Kung Fu Panda 3 could well struggle to bring in decent numbers.

Falling from the top spot to number 3 after its debut at the top is London Has Fallen, a second week gross of £1.8 million brings its total to £6.4 million after 10 days.

Highest total grossing movie on the box offie this week is Deadpool which after 5 weeks has taken £35.7 million.

Historical charts

A year ago - The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel was still at the top of the box office leaving Liam Neeson's Run All Night to enter highest at 2.

Five years ago - Battle: Los Angeles made its debut at the top of the UK box office while Rango fell into second place.

Ten years ago - Horror remake The Hills Have Eyes entered at the top of the chart knocking Date Movie down to number 2.

Fifteen years ago - Hannibal stayed at the top of the box office leaving the highest new entry to debut at number 7 in the shape of The Watcher.

Twenty years ago - Trainspotting remained at the top of the box office and in a quiet week for new releases there was nothing entering the box office this week.

Twenty five years ago - The Godfather Part III made its debut at the top knocking Dances With Wolves down to number 2 after a four weeks at the top

Ending the 3 week run of Deadpool this week is London Has Fallen which takes over on its debut weekend of release.

The sequel to the 2013 film about the White House takes over at the top with a debut weekend gross of £3.2 million.

It could be the location of course but London debuts with a £1 million gross higher than the original film, plenty of competition down the line to see this disappear quite quickly.

Deadpool falls to number 2 this week, the superhero film is still doing good numbers at the box office and this week does £1.5 million to brings its total to £34.1 million.

Deadpool is also the highest total grossing film on the box office this week.

Also new this week is Hail, Caesar! from The Coen Brother at number 3, The Other Side of The Door at number 9 and The Choice at number 10.
