Tim Burton is no stranger to the top of the US box office and this week takes his latest directorial film there with Miss Peregrines Home For Peculiar Children.

The imaginatively titled film takes Burton back to the more surreal films that started his career and takes a low but impressive $28.5 million for the weekend.

The Magnificent Seven falls from the top of the chart after only one week and after a second weekend of $15.7 million its total US gross is now $61.6 million.

Also new this week is Deepwater Horizons making its debut at number 2 with $20.6 million, Masterminds is also new at 6 with $6.6 million.

All of the summer big hitters have now left the top 10 so the longest staying film on the US box office is Don't Breathe at number 8 with 6 weeks.

Highest total grossing movie with Sully which has just gone over the $100 million mark and sits at number 5 this week.
