Each week we present a rundown of the UK box office chart headlines on this same week from last year to 1990.
The number one film was The Lion King which had been at the top for 3 weeks and with a total gross of £59.9 Million it was also the top total grossing film.
The top new film of the week was Blinded By The Light directed by Gurinder Chadha and starring Viveik Kalra and Kulvinder Ghir which entered the box office at number 4.
The film with the longest run was Casino Royale which had been on the box office for 23 weeks.
Also making its debut at the top was Fantastic Four starring Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan and directed by Josh Trank and Stephen E. Rivkin
The film with the longest run was Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back which had been on the box office for 32 weeks.
The top total grossing film of the week was Jurassic World which had taken £63.3 Million after 9 weeks of release.
The number one film was Toy Story 3 which had been at the top for 3 weeks and with a total gross of £51.5 Million it was also the top total grossing film.
The top new film of the week was Knight And Day directed by James Mangold and starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz which entered the box office at number 2.
The film with the longest run was Tooth Fairy which had been on the box office for 10 weeks.
The number one film was Charlie And The Chocolate Factory which had been at the top for 2 weeks.
The top new film of the week was Herbie Fully Loaded directed by Angela Robinson and starring Lindsay Lohan and Michael Keaton which entered the box office at number 5.
The film with the longest run was Batman Begins which had been on the box office for 8 weeks.
The top total grossing film of the week was War Of The Worlds which had taken £28.9 Million after 6 weeks of release.
Making its debut at the top was Gone In 60 Seconds starring Nicolas Cage and Giovanni Ribisi and directed by Dominic Sena
The longerst run on the box office and the top total grossing film was Gladiator which had taken £29.4 Million over 13 weeks of release.
The number one film was Casper which had been at the top for 2 weeks.
The top new film of the week was Free Willy 2: The Adventure Home directed by Dwight H. Little and starring Jason James Richter and Francis Capra which entered the box office at number 3.
The film with the longest run was Man Of The House which had been on the box office for 9 weeks.
The top total grossing film of the week was Batman Forever which had taken £13.5 Million after 4 weeks of release.
Making its debut at the top was Days Of Thunder starring Tom Cruise and Robert Duvall and directed by Tony Scott
The longerst run on the box office and the top total grossing film was Pretty Woman which had taken £12.1 Million over 11 weeks of release.
As happens each year the night before the Oscar nominations are announced the Razzie nominations are announced which celebrated the worst in cinematic achievements through the year.
Leading the field this year is the Transformers sequel, Revenge of the Fallen, which lets face it was truly awful and in the field for worst film along with All About Steve, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Land of the Lost and Old Dogs should win quite comfortably.
As these awards are something which are not taken too seriously, even by the foundation, in the worst actor category we have all 3 Jonas brothers up for a single nomination, in the same category we have Will Ferrell, Steve Martin, Eddie Murphy (who has had his fare share of nominations) and John Travolta.
Worst actress nods go to Beyonce, Sandra Bullock, Myley Cyrus, Megan Fox and Sarah Jessica Parker, and guess which of these was in the Transformers movie that may just pip the rest at the post.
The categories are not in the usual fashion and there is a category for Worst Screen Couple for which the Jonas brothers feature again and Worst Remake, Rip-off or Sequel, which of course the Transformers film appears in.
As we celebrated the end of a decade last year there are also categories for picture, actress and actor that were the worst of the naughties.
