Ghostbusters: Afterlife

Coming 22 years after Ghostbusters II director Ivan Rietman, the son of original director Ivan Rietman, brings a sequel to the movies which started he much loved franchise.

The movie makes its debut with a gross of £4.3 Million which is almost identical to the 2016 Paul Feig female led reboot.

Although the movie was delayed a couple of times due to the pandemic its been released with quite a bit of hype, although critical reviews have been very mixed it seems to have been well received by audiences.

Eternals

The Marvel movie from director Chloe Zhao drop to number 2 this weekend after a couple of weeks at the top with a gross of £1.2 Million, a 58% drop over last weekend.

The movie has now taken a very reasonable £12.8 Million in the UK and is the 10th top movie of 2021 so far.

No Time To Die

Bonds 25th cinematic outing continues to do well and this week falls to 3 with a weekend gross of £940,075, a 40% drop and the first weekend it has failed to gross over £1 Million.

The total gross of the movie now sits at £94.4 Million, it is by far the top movie of 2021 and will remain there for the rest of the year.

It has now overtaken Avatar on the list of all-time UK movie and by next weekend will overtake Spectre to movie into the top 3 top movies.

Dune

The classic sci-fi adaptation from director Denis Villeneuve fall to 4 this weekend with £634,843, a 46% drop over last weekend, giving the movie a total UK gross of £20.1 Million and its the 4th top movie of 2021.

King Richard

The first trailer for the much anticipated Ghostbusters 3, now officially called Ghostbusters: Afterlife, will get its first showing Monday December 9th.

After the bad box office performance of the last all female led Ghostbusters the studio have changed direction with the series, and the new movie will see Ghostbusters of male and female and kids.

The movie is directed by Jason Reitman, son of the original director Ivan, and the cast includes the likes of Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon and Mckenna Grace.

Its also being hailed as a true sequel to 1989's Ghostbusters II, unlike the 2016 movie which was apparently set in a parallel universe, and as more of a reboot.

The new movie is out summer of 2020 and the anticipation, and fear, for the new movie is increasing.

Also check out the first real teaser poster to the left.

Vanity fair has been given the first look images which you can check out in the tweet below, but just check out Paul Rudd with the original style trap, fantastic!

Despite the positive reaction to the 2016 Ghostbustes reboot the film did not do well at the box office and the studio lost faith in the series, but director Jason Reitman has just been confirmed to write and direct a new film in the franhise.

The director, son of Ivan who directed the originals, has a number of acclaimed films under his belt and has been a fan for as long as their have been Ghostbuster.

The film will be a direct sequel to 1989's Ghostbusters II and will have no connection to the 2016 female led movie by director Paul Feig.

We hope the reboot does get a sequel at some point as that was a good film despite he reviews and box office receipts, but a Ghostbusters movie in any form is a good thing and we look forward to this.

Summer of 2020 is the expected release date so not long to wait.

Ghostbusters is getting a reboot, and this time its an all female led cast and directed by Paul Feig.

The movie stars Mellisa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig in the lead roles as paranormal investigators who try to prove the existence of ghosts.

It has big shoes to fill as the original Ghostbusters and its sequel Ghostbusters II are considered classics, but lets give it a chance.

The movie is set for release in 15th July 2016.

Paddington stays at the top of the UK box office for a second week leaving The Hunger Games in it's wake and leaving the highest new film to come in at three.

Staying at two is The Hunger Games, Mockingjay Part 1 now with a £25.2 million total gross.
