News from around the web

Hitting today is the new trailer for the James Gunn directed The Suicide Squad which gives a new and refreshing take on the comic book villain series.

The 2016 version of the source material directed by David Ayer was an interesting and enjoyable, but ultimately flawed, version of the ani-heroes that came out in the midst of the Zack Snyder take on the DC Universe.

That time has passed, and the DC Universe has largely moved on and now James Gunn, who brought us the Marvel Cinematic Universe The Guardians of the Galaxy, takes on the misfit group headed up once again by Margot Robbie who reprises her role as Harley Quinn for a third time.

The comedy here seems slapstick, and the red band trailer hints that this might be a bit more adult than the 2016 take.

There is a hint of '80's action TV show here and I couldn't help but think of The A-Team or Knight Rider as I watched, but still its enjoyable if a bit childish at times.

A new poster (see below) has also been released which backs up this 80's TV show, or Grindhouse cinema, feel.

The movie hits streaming and cinemas across the world with a release date of 6th August 2021 in the UK and USA.
