The long awaited adaptation of the Wicked~2024 hot stage musical tops the UK box office this weekend on its debut giving cinema attendance a much needed boost.
The movie tops the chart with a £13.6 Million gross with easily takes the box office crown from last weeks top movie Gladiator II.
The sequel movie which drop to 2 this weekend was no slouch though as it takes £4.7 Million on its second weekend of release boosting its total to an excellent £18.4 Million.
Both movies has had very good reviews from critics and audiences alike and are showing good potential going forward.
Former number 1 movie Paddington In Peru is still at 3 this weekend with a total gross of £24.5 Million.

Coming 24 years after the original Gladiator the sequel lands at the top of the UK box office this weekend with a debut gross of £9 Million.
Compared to the original movie this is nearly £3 Million higher as that movie took £6.3 Million (adjusted for inflation) £3.5 Million actual.
Last weekend Paddington In Peru was the top new movie at number 1 and after a week the movie falls to number 2 with a total gross of £18 Million.
This is most likely not the last we hear from the Paddington movie and a move back to the top would not be a surprise, although with Wicked~2024 out this weekend who knows!

The movie, which was originally going to be a streaming only title, takes the top with a debut of $34 Million, good but not fantastic.
Last weekends to movie, Venom: The Last Dance drops to number 3 this weekend after 3 weeks at the top with a total box office gross of $127,6 Million.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice starts to end its cinema run and has taked just shy of $300 Million over 11 weeks.

Hitting the top of the box office with ease this weekend is Paddington in Peru as it powers ahead of the crowd with a £9.6 Million debut weekend.
With the current state of the box office in general and movies available on streaming within months of theatrical releases is nice to see a third movie in a series out preform its predecessor.
Paddington 2 made its debut in 2017 and took just over £8 Million, Paddington from 2014 took just over £5 Million so this is a series high.
Coming in at number 2 this weekend is the Christmas movie Red One from Amazon Studios, once scheduled for a streaming only release the movie lands in the UK with nearly £2.5 Million and hits number 2.
Last weeks top movie, The Wild Robot falls to number 5 this weekend and has a total gross of £12.7 Million after 4 weeks.
