The Little Things

Starring a powerhouse of Denzel Washington, Rami Malek and Jared Leto the murder mystery makes its debut at the top of the box office with $4.8 Million.

Not a bad debut for a movie during the COVID-19 pandemic with many cinemas closed, but clearly a lower debut than normal for all 3 leads.

The Croods: A New Age

The animated movies starring Nicholas Cage has gone from strength to strength during its cinema run despite being available on digital streaming through much of it!

This weekend the movie took $1.84 Millon wich it 2% up from last week, the total for the movie after 10 weeks is $43.9 Million.

Wonder Woman 1984

The super hero movie from the DC Universe has had a hard time at the cinema, perhaps because it got mediocre reviews and was available on HBO Max from day one.

The movie has takes $1.3 Million this weekend, down 19% from last weekend, for a $39.2 Million total after 6 weeks.

The Marksman

Falling from the top to number 4 this week is the Liam Neeson movie which takes $1.2 Million, 38% down, for a $7.8 Million total after 3 weeks.

Compared to Neesons last movie, Honest Thief which also came out during the pandemic last October it is nearly $2 Million lower as that movie had taken $9.5 Million after 3 weeks.

Monster Hunter

The Paul W.S. Anderson video game adaptation falls to number 3 this weekend with $740,000, 10% down from last weekend, for an $11.1 Million 7 week total.

After scoring a big hit towards the end of 2020 with Honest Thief Liam Neeson is back once again in the Pandemic era with The Marksman which makes its debut a the top.

With many cinemas in the US still closed there are no other new film on the top 10 this weekend and the top 5 just performs a bit of a shift with everything dropping one place.

With no sigh yet of a return to normal we have a while to wait until we get a substantial new release.

  • Highest debut - The Marksman (@1)
  • Longest run - The War With Grandpa (15 weeks)

Compared to Neeson's last release during the COVID-19 pandemic this is a little lower as Honest Thief took $3.7 Million on its debut.

Wonder Woman 1984

The DC Universe superhero movie is available on streaming which will have effected its box office performance but this week falls from the top where it spent 3 weeks to number 2 with $2.6 Million, only 13% down from last weekend.

The movie has now taken $35.8 Million over its for weeks of release, as a comparison the original Wonder Woman from 2017 had taken $318.1 Million by the same point, but a comparison is unfair of course.

The Croods: A New Age

Doing surprisingly well still is the animated sequel starring Nicholas Cage which this week takes just over $2 Million, an increase of 11% from last weekend.

This pushes the movies total gross to $39.2 Million after 8 weeks of release, quite a feat considering the pandemic and that the movie is available on streaming.

Wonder Woman 1984 retained its position at the top of the box office with ease and is responsible for 77% of this weeks box office total takings and as there were no new releases we have a fairly static top 5.
