Released in the US this weekend, Friday, 20th December 2024, there are 5 new releases looking to take your attention and where available could hit your local cinema and try and replace Moana 2 from the top of the North American box office.

As the film pushed itself over the billion mark at the global box office Fast and Furious 8 (The Fate of the Furious in America) hold the top spot for a third weekend.

Fast 8 drops nearly 50% of its taking from last week and this week manages ‘just’ $19.4 million to bring its US total to $192.7 million.

Highest new film of the week is How To Be A Latin Lover which is new at number 2 with a good $12 million debut.

For a smaller independent film this is a great opening, it did play to a largely latin American audience which is to be expected.

Also new this week is Baahubali 2: The Conclusion which is new at 3 with $10 million and Emma Watson and Tom Hanks in The Circle which disappoints with a number 4 debut and $9.3 million.

Highest total grossing movie on the US box office this week is Beauty and The Beast which has now grosses nearly $500 million, it is also the longest running film with 7 weeks on the chart.
