£1.3 Million
$47 Million
$0 There were a trio of big new releases this week and as expected The Fault in Our stars hit the top, the other two didn't perform any where near expectations.
Based on the novel of the same name The Fault in Our Stars is a teenage love story and a tragedy. Directed by Josh Boone who previously directed Stuck in Love from 2003 and starring Shailene Woodley.
Taking £3.4 million from the weekend it knocks 22 Jump Street into the number 2 spot after 2 weeks at the top, Jump Street has taken £12.7 million to date.
Under performing and new at 6 this week is the Clint Eastwood directed Jersey Boys. Taking just £415,608 on it's debut this could be set to be one of Eastwood's worst performing films.
Also not doing as well as expected is Kevin Costner's return to the big screen in 3 Days to Kill. The McG directed film only managed £324,560 over the weekend.
This time last year Man of Steel kept it's place at the top leaving World War Z to debut in the runner up spot.
Five years ago Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen made a debut at the top knocking off The Hangover from it's debut position at the top.
Ten years ago Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban stayed at the top leaving Mean Girls to make it's debut at three with The Day After Tomorrow staying at 2.
Fifteen years ago The Matrix was refusing to shift off the top and the highest new film was Cruel Intentions at three.
At the US box office this week is the Tim story directed Think Like A Man Too, starring Kevin Heart it takes over at the top on it's debut weekend.
A sequel to 2012's Think Like A Man, Think Too grosses $30 million on it's debut, a similar ball park as the original which took $33 million two years ago, although that was an April time frame.
Falling into second place this week, and after just one week at the top, is 22 Jump Street, it's total gross after 10 days is $111.5 million.
Other new films on the US chart this week - Jersey Boys at 4 -
A number of new releases are out this week, it's almost as if the studios predicted that most British people would loose interest in the Wold Cup by this point!
Leading the way is The Fault in Our Stars a romantic comedy/tragedy where the romance can only have one inevitable end.
The film didn't do as well as expected in the US, which could have an impact here, but in the UK there has been a heavy media buzz and positive reviews which could see this take over at the top this weekend, I expect a number 1 debut.
Based on the Stage show of the same name, Clint Eastwood directs the screen version of Jersey Boys, the story of how the The Four Seasons came together.
A massive hit on the stage but can it translate to the screen? Reviews have been mixed but with Eastwood at the helm this could have a top 3 entry easily.
Kevin Costner returns after his successful turn as Superman's dad in this action drama 3 Days to Kill. A Dying CIA agent is given a miracle drug in exchange for one last assignment, This might well go top 5 on it's debut.
Other new films this week - The Art of the Steal - Lilting -
