The new re-image of the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory story, Wonka is the top movie in the UK on its debut with a £5.8 Million gross.
This is lower than the Tom Burton movie from 2005 which took nearly £8 Million and starred Johnny Depp in the lead role of Wonka.
Last weeks top movie, Napoleon~2023 fell to number 4 this weekend after a couple of weeks at the top and has a total of £11 Million.
With the Christmas season upon on now there are some festive movies on the box office this weekend in the shape of Elf, Home Alone and LoveActually.

Directed by Ridley Scott and starring Joaquin Phoenix the historical drama Napoleon~2023 hits the top on its debut with a weekend gross of £5.2 Million.
Ridley Scott's last movie House of Gucci took £2.5 Million on its debut but that was during he COVID19 pandemic!.
Joaquin Phoenix last movie, Beau Is Afraid, took £231,370 earlier this year.
Last weeks top movie The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes falls a single place to number 2 this weekend with a 50% drop from last week.
Also new this weekend is the latest Disney movie that has DNA closely attached to the companies smash hit Frozen~2023, Wish this weekend lands at number 3 with £2.4 Million.

The British institution that is Emma Thompson stars in this comedy which has been given a 15 age rating in the UK for strong sex references, sex, language.
As mentioned the movie stars Emma Thompson who lets face it is a comedy legend and has been in movies such as Cruella and Saving Mr. Banks to classics such as LoveActually and The Remains of the Day to list a tiny part of her back catalogue, the movie also stars Daryl McCormack who last appeared in Pixie from 2020.
The movie is directed by Sophie Hyde who is bringing her third movie to the big screen and who previously directed Animals in 2019 and 52 Tuesdays in 2015.

The top new movie was the concert film of Little Mix and right behind that was Superintelligence, further down the top 15 pantomime movie Peter Duncan Presents Jack And The Beanstalk was new at 11 while Dreamland was new at 14.
The top 15 movie took a total of £627,505 which is double that of last week and with Wonder Woman 1984 set for release on Wednesday 16th December we could see some impressive numbers next weekend.

Directed by Jon Favreau the holiday favourite from 2003 spends a second weekend at the top of the UK box office taking £98,157, 51% up from last weekend.
The movie only made number 2 on its initial release, the film has now taken £17.1 Million since its 2003 release.
Another holiday classic spends a second weekend at number 2, this week it takes £87,809, 58% up from last weekend, the movie was released in 1990 and has taken £9.7 Million since release.
Highest new movie of the week is the concert film of pop group Little Mix's last concert LM5 which takes £83,518 over the weekend.
Another new release, Melissa McCarthy stars in her husband Ben Falcone new movie which makes its debut at 4 with £72,574 .
Finally in the top 5 is writer Richard Curtis's directorial debut starring Hugh Grant from 2003.
The movie takes £42,508 over the weekend, 66% up from last week, for a total gross of £36.87 since it was released.
