The number one film was Avengers: Age Of Ultron which had been at the top for 3 weeks and with a total gross of £40.4 Million it was also the top total grossing film.

The top new film of the week was [spooks] The Greater Good directed by Bharat Nalluri and starring Kit Harington and Tuppence Middleton which entered the box office at number 2.

The film with the longest run was Home which had been on the box office for 8 weeks.

Ten years ago (2010) -

The number one film was Iron Man 2 which had been at the top for 2 weeks.

This week the top 2 films flip round and A Star Is Born takes over at the top from Venom on their second weekends while First man has to settle for fourth on its debut.

A Star Is Born

The Oscar contender was unable to makes its debut at the top of the UK box office last weekend but after a tight fought battle manages to knock Venom off the top spot.

The films weekend gross is £3.08 million which takes the films total gross to £9.6 million

Venom

The Marvel film was not quite strong enough to hold on to the top spot for a second weekend as it falls to number 2 this week with £3 million.

This brings the Tom Hardy starring films total UK gross after 2 weekends of release to £13.7 million.

Its worth noting that across the week Monday - Sunday Venom is the top film with just £5.7 million compared to £5.5 million.

Johnny English Strikes Again

The British comedy starring Rowan Atkinson stays at 3 this week with a weekend gross of £2.9 million, this brings the films total gross after 2 weeks to £8.3 million.

It was in all a very tight fought battle at the box office for the top 3 places with less than £200,00 between the 3 movies.

First Man

Highest new entry of the week is First Man, set around the American space race to put the first man on the moon starring Ryan Gosling at Neil Armstring.

The film makes its debut with £2.4 million in the UK putting it this week at number 4, with Oscar buzz already in full swing for the film we could see this have a lengthy run.

Smallfoot

Finally in the top 5 is a new animated family film from Warner Bros. which makes its debut taking £2.3 million over the weekend.

Worth noting is that the top five films in the UK all take over £2 million this weekend as the bad weather sets in after a very good summer and people look for indoor things to do.

Also interesting this week is that positions 4 down to 8 are all new entries, and the weeks only new entries

Incredibles 2

The Disney Pixar film has now been arounf for 14 weeks and has taken an incredible £55.9 million.

Venom makes is a second week as the top film in the world despite the release of First Man and continued attention on the Oscar potential A Star Is born.

Venom

Another week as the top film for the Marvel bad guy movie as it takes an excellent $105.4 million from 55 countries to boost its international cume to $235.3 million after 10 days of release.

A Star Is Born

Bradly Coopers directorial film is performing well at the global box office and from 66 countries this week takes a very good $48 million to be at number 2.

This increases the films global gross to a very respectable $94.1 million and it will go over $100 million by next weekend.

First Man

Starring Ryan Gosling the film about the NASA race to have America be the first country to get a man on the moon is at number 3 and takes a fairly tepid $16.5 million from 23 countries on its debut.

There is a big Oscar buzz around the film and if it picks up some Academy Awards it could mean the film hangs around for a good few months.

Smallfoot

Warner Bros. have another animated hit on their hands as the family comedy falls to 4 and takes $23 million from 58 countries on its third week of release which boosts its global gross to $110.2 million.

Project Gutenberg

The Chinese film is still only released in 6 countries and this week is at number 5 and takes $22 million for the week which boosts its international cume to $138.6 million.

Venom stays at the top of the US box office this week with A Star Is Born staying at number 2, while new entries First Man and Goosebumps 2 Haunted Halloween follow at 3 and 4.

Venom

The Tom Hardy starring super villain movie manages to stay ahead of the crowd for a second weekend and remain at the top with a $35 million gross.

This brings the Reuben Fleischer directed Marvel films total gross after 10 days of release to $142.8 million.

A Star Is Born

Remaining in the runner up spot this week is the Bradley Cooper directed remake starring Lady Gaga which takes $28 million on its second weekend.

The film is just shy of the $100 million mark after 10 days with a US gross of $94.1 million.

First Man

Highest new entry of the week comes in at 3, the potential Oscar glory film starring Ryan Gosling and directed by Damien Chazelle, the film about the first man on the moon takes $16.5 million on its debut.

Goosebumps 2 Haunted Halloween

lighthearted spooks is the order of the day at 4 with the sequel new entry starring Wendi McLendon-Covey and Jack Black.

The film from the successful series of books of the same name takes $16.2 million on its debut weekend.

Smallfoot

The lighthearted family comedy has been on the chart now for 3 weeks and takes $9.3 million to boost its total US gross to $57.6 million.

The story of the first man on the moon is one we all know, but new movie First Man goes behind the scenes to show how it all came together.

Starring Ryan Gosling the film is set for release in the UK on 12th October and has been given a 12A rating by the BBFC for infrequent strong language, moderate threat.

It has a running time of 141 minutes.
