UK box office top 5 weekend breakdown 11th - 13th February 2022

Uncharted

Hot off the heels of his previous smash hit Tom Holland proves he's one of the most bankable stars in the world as the video game adaption from director Ruben Fleischer hits the top of the UK box office.

Also along for the ride is Mark Wahlberg and Antonio Banderas, and with this star power no wonder the movie makes its debut with £4.7 Million.

The movie also instantly becomes the 5th top grossing movie of 2022.

Sing 2

Three weeks on and the animated sequel takes an amazing £3.2 Million, a small 38% drop over last weekend.

This gives the movie a total UK gross of £16.7 Million and makes it the second top movie of 2022 behind Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Death On the Nile

Because of the delay in the release of this movie director Kenneth Branagh has 2 movies on the box office this week, he also stars in this movie which is a remake and adaptation of the Agatha Christie novel of the same name.

Landing at number 3 on this weekend box office the movie takes £1.8 Million on its debut.

Belfast

The Oscar nominated movie from director Kenneth Branagh falls to number 4 this weekend with £1.05 Million, a modest 29% drop over last weekend.

The movie has now taken £11.2 Million on the UK box office and is the 3rd top movie of 2022 so far.

Jackass Forever

Falling to number 5 this weekend after its debut at number 2 is the Jackass boys and their death defying stunts as the movie takes £997,197, a 52% drop, giving the film a £4 Million total.

Directed by Kenneth Branagh his retelling of the Death On the Nile hits the top of the US box office over the Super Bowl weekend which is traditionally a quiet weekend at the North American box office.

Landing at number 2 is the romantic comedy Marry Me while also making its debut on the top 5 this weekend if a new Liam Neeson movie Blacklight which lands at 5.

Also worth noting is that 2 Oscar contenders for best movie go back up the box office top 15, Licorice Pizza expands into more cinemas as increases its box office 30% over last weekend and is back to number 9 and Belfast also directed by Kenneth Branagh goes back up to number 13 with a 30% increase.

US box office QuickView

  • Number 1 - Death on the Nile (1st weekend)
  • Highest debut - Death on the Nile (@1)
  • Longest run - Belfast (13 weeks)
  • Highest total gross - Spider-Man: No Way Home ($759 Million)

US box office top 5 weekend breakdown 11th - 13th February 2022

Death On the Nile

A remake or a retelling? Director Kenneth Branagh brings his vision of Agatha Christie's fames novel, last seen at cinemas in 1978 when director John Guillermin brought his version to the big screen.

Starring a whole host of A-list stars this version tops the box office with $12.8 Million, a good strategic movie to launch during the Super Bowl weekend as the one after is usually hit by a blockbuster, this year that honor goes to Uncharted.

The movie was delayed by over a year due to the pandemic and in comparison to the directors previous Christie adaptation, Murder On the Orient Express this takes far less than that movies $28 Million debut.

Jackass Forever

Last weeks top movie falls to number 2 this week as the Jackass crew get a 65% drop over last weekend with $8 Million.

The movie has now taken $37.4 Million in North America and is the 4th top movie if 2022 so far.

Marry Me

Billed as a good old fashioned romantic comedy, this Jennifer Loper vehicle lands at number 3 this weekend with $8 Million which is pretty standard for a JLo romantic comedy.

Spider Man: No Way Home

The Marvel/Sony Universe movie continues to do well at the box office 9 weeks after its release and takes $7.1 Million over the weekend, a small 25% drop over last week.

Having taken $759 Million over its box office run the movie is still the top grosser or 2022, and will have likely overtaken Avatar as the third top movie on North America ever by the time you read this.

Blacklight

Liam Neeson continues his run of 'man on a mission with a gun' movies in this action movies which sees the action star uncover a government conspiracy and attempt to resolve it himself.

The movie lands at number 5 on the box office with $3.6 Million over the weekend.
