News from around the web

Marvel and Disney continue their run of top film by taking their latest Doctor Strange to the top head of 2 other new releases.

Its a new IP for the superhero studio but these days that doesn't matter as Doctor Strange takes $84.9 million on its opening weekend of release.

Not as high as the more established series in the MCU but still a good opening and one which should see the film go up their with some of the best in the long running series.

Second on the chart this week is Troll which debuts with $45.6 million and coming in third is Hacksaw Ridge which takes $14.7 million.

Falling from the top after 2 weeks is Boo! A Madea Halloween, the film lands at 4 this week with $7.8 million, still good considering Halloween is a distant memory now.

Longest run on the UB box office this week is Miss Peregrines Home For Peculiar Children which has now been around for 6 weeks, but the highest total grosser, on its debut, is Doctor Strange.

At the US box office this week Tyler Perry's Boo! A Medea Halloween does the unthinkable and beats Tom Cruise in Jack Reacher Never Go Back to the top.

The Medea series has never taken off here in the UK but in America each film does well at the box office and Tyler Perry is a massive star.

Boo! goes the to the top on a very quiet weekend at the box office with a weekend gross of $27.6 million.

Falling from the top is The Accountant, now at number 3 with a weekend take of $14 million which brings the films total US gross to $47.9 million.

Also entering the chart this week is Jack Reacher Never Go Back at number 2 and Ouija Origin of Evil at number 3.

Its been a very quiet period on the US box office recently and the top total grossing film on the chart this week is Miss Peregrines Home For Peculiar Children with $74 million while the longest running film is Storks at 5 weeks.

Tom Hanks and director Ron Howard climb to the top of the global box office this week despite not having a US release.

With a global take of around $50 million Inferno easily ranks as the top film globally on its debut around the world where it has been released in 53 countries.

The US release is due next week which could keep the film at the top for a second week and the US debut could easily double the box office so far.

Falling from the top to number 5 this week is The Girl On The Train, a $20 million dollar second weekend from 21 countries sees the total gross grow to $75 million.

Highest total grossing film on the global box office this week is Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children which this week is at 2 with $32 million from 73 countries and has grossed $196.7 million.

This week Emily Blunt stars in The Girl on The Train which takes over from Miss Peregrines Home For Peculiar Children at the top of the US box office.

The Girl on The Trains debut is no record breaker taking only $24.6 million on its debut, but it is enough to out gross all in its path.

Miss Peregrines Home For Peculiar Children falls from the top to number 2 this week with a second weekend gross of just $15 million.

Also new this week is hotly tipped Oscar movie The Brith of a Nation which enters at 6 and comedy Middle School which is new at 7.

Longest running film on the US top 10 this week is Sully with 5 weeks on the chart, it is also the highest total grossing movie with $113.4 million.
