At the UK box office this weekend, Friday, 1st November 2019, there are 4 new releases looking to take your attention at the local multiplex and knock Joker from the top of the UK box office chart next week.

Doctor Sleep

First up at cinemas this week is Doctor Sleep, a movie directed by Mike Flanagan who also directed Ouija: Origin Of Evil in 2016 which grossed £2.5 Million.

This is an adaptation to Stephen Kings novel and is the long awaited sequel to Stanley Kubrick's classic 1980 movie The Shining.

It stars Ewan McGregor who last starred in Christopher Robin (2018).

The film also stars Rebecca Ferguson who last appeared in Men In Black: International (2019).

Brittany Runs A Marathon

Next on this weeks new release schedule is Brittany Runs A Marathon.

This new movie stars Jillian Bell who's last film was Rough Night (2017)

It also stars Jennifer Dundas who appeared in The Post (2018).

The film is brought to us by new director Paul Downs Colaizzo.

Western Stars

Next up this week is Western Stars which is directed by Bruce Springsteen and Thom Zimny directing together.

It stars Bruce Springsteen who was last seen in Asbury Park: Riots, Redemption, Rock 'n' Roll which grossed £43,489.

Sorry We Missed You

Also this week there is Sorry We Missed You from director Ken Loach who also directed Riff Raff in 1991.

The film features Kris Hitchen and Debbie Honeywood in starring roles.

Doctor Sleep is given a 15 age rating by the BBFC in the UK.

The long awaited sequel to the Shining, Doctor Sleep is again based on a novel by Stephen King.

Directed by Mike Flanagan who also directed Ouija: Origin of Evil in 2016 he has a lot to live up to as the The Shining was directed by Stanley Kubrick and is considered a classic of its time.

Stephen King himself has given his praise of the film, something he never did for The Shining, so things are off to a good start.

Starring Ewan McGregor and Rebecca Ferguson the film has been given a 15 certificate for strong bloody violence, gore, horror, threat, language and it has a runtime of 151 minutes (2 hours and 31 minutes-, the film was passed uncut.

The movie is released on 31st October 2019.

Tom Cruise releases his latest action film this week in the shape of Jack Reacher Never Go Back and tops the global box office with ease.

Its a very quiet time for big new releases at the moment and Jack Reacher manages to top the global box office with a weekly gross of $54 million from 31 countries.

After a week at the top Inferno falls into second place this week with $28.9 million, this brings the films total gross after 2 weeks of release to $64.8 million from 58 countries.

Also released this week making an impact on the global box office is US number 1 Boo! A Madea Halloween which is at 3 with $27.6 million from just the one country.

Ouija: Origin Of Evil is also new at number 5 and has taken $21 million and is released in 23 countries.

Highest total grossing movie on the global box office this week is Miss Peregrine' Home For Peculiar Children which has now taken $224 million and is still out in 65 countries.
