This makes it the highest debut gross of the year out grossing Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy which is currently the top grossing movie of 2025.
The movie is also the second highest debut for a video game based movie with only The Super mario Bros Movie from laste year doing better.
Snow White~2024 after a couple of weeks at the top of the UK box office and has so far taken nearly £8 Million at the UK box office.
Highest new movie this weekend
Remaining at the top this weekend is the Tom Cruise starring sequel movie Top Gun Maverick which has a small 32% drop over its debut last weekend.
Highest new movie of the weekend is the Indian movie Vikram which makes its debut at 7 with $1.7 Million, also new this weekend is David Cronenberg new movie Crimes of the Future with $1.1 Million while Watcher is new at number 11 with $815,000.
After a massive opening weekend the Top Gun sequel was going to stay at the top of the US box office for a second weekend, and it does it in style dropping only 32% from last weekend for a weekend gross of $86 Million.
The movie is proving to be a megga success for Paramount studios, which will make them wonder why they waited 36 years to pruduce a sequel, but perhaps thats why its proving to be a hit, the movie has been getting phenomenal reviews and great word of mouth as not being a formulaic summer blockbuster.
The total gross for the movie is now $291.6 Million after 10 days in cinemas which makes it the 3rd top movie of 2022.

The Marvel/Sony Spider-Man movie spends its 6th weekend at the top of the US box office and has now taken $735.8 Million, a low 21% drop over last weekend, over its 7 week run.
This has been a phenomenal run for the web slinger which is the 4th top grossing movie ever in the US and it has the number 3 movie, Avatar, which is at $760.5 Million.
The movie is naturally the top grossing film in 2022 with $122.2 Million taken this year.
The horror franchise movie is at number 2 this weekend with $7.3 Million, a substantial 40% drop, giving the movie a total US gross of $62.1 Million after 3 weeks of release.
The animated sequel movie is at number 3 this weekend with $4.8 Million, only 17% down from last weekend, the movie has now taken an excellent $134,5 Million over 6 weeks of release.
The D.J. Caruso directed love story takes $1.8 Million on its second weekend, a 48% drop, giving the movie a total US gross of $6.5 Million.
Six weeks on for the prequel movie which this week takes $1.75 Million, a very low 2% drop, which pushes the total gross for the movie to $34 Million from its 6 week run.
