Uk box office top 5 breakdown weekend 20th - 22nd August 2021
Surprise hit of the summer starring Ryan Reynolds and Jodie Comer remains at the top of the UK box office for a second weekend taking £2.2 Million, a tiny 8% drop over its debut gross last weekend.
This could be contributed to the fact the UK public is starting to gain confidence going out the the cinema again, and equally it is a movie squarely aimed at the teen audience and the UK school are still out on their summer holidays.
The movie has taken £7.19 Million after 10 days of release and should be a top 10 movie of 2021 by next weekend.
Again benefitting from the school holidays the Children's TV favourite remains at number 2 for a second weekend with a gross of £1.03 Million, although showing its limited appeal it is 57% down on last weekend.
The movie has taken £4.4 Million on its 10 days of release.
The hit BBC 3 TV show about a fake reality pirate radio show from London went big screen this weekend and landed at number 3 on the UK box office with £896,992.
It was perhaps expecting to be a bit bigger in the UK as the TV show has created a lot of hype and won BAFTA's, it will probably do well until the schools go back as it has big teen appeal.
The comic book super villain movie falls to number 4 this weekend with £653,885, a 39% drop over last weekend, this gives the movie a total UK gross of £12.3 Million and the fourth top movie of 2021.
Rounding out the top 5 is Disney's action movie starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt which takes £652,473, a small 23% drop thanks to the school holidays, giving the movie a total of £10 Million and the 7th top movie of 2021.
Based on the British reality TV style comedy from BBC3, People Just Do Nothing: Big In Japan is given a 15 age rating in the UK from the BBFC.
The movie stars among other Asim Chaudhry and Allan Mustafa who reprise their roles from the TV show.
The movie is directed by Jack Clough who also directed the TV series of the same name.
