After five weeks at the top of the global box office, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has surrendered the number one spot to The Odyssey. Reclaiming the crown, The Odyssey has now grossed well over $1.5 billion since its release.

Dune
Director Denis Villeneuve brings his vision of the classic Frank Herbert sci-fi noval to the big screen after a delay of a year and hit the top, de-throning Bond in the process.
The movie takes a very respectable £5.8 Million in the UK on its debut, which compared to movie this year since cinemas re-opened is good with only No Time To Die doing better, as you would expect.
The movie has potential limited appeal altohugh David Lynches 1984 version of the movie has created a large audience over the nearly 40 years since release who will be keen to see this version, but No Time To Die could reclaim the top for a weekend before the release of Eternals on 5th November.
No Time To Die
The 25th Bond movie spent 3 weeks at the top before being taken by Dune and this week is at number 2 with a weekend gross of £4.6 Million, a 44% drop over last weekend.
The movie has certainly brought people back to the cinema and has taken a massive £78 Million to date and has sold over 12.5 Million cinema tickets.
The movie is by far the top movie of 2021 in the UK, and I doubt Eternals or Spider-Man: No Way Home will overtake it and I think The Matrix Resurrections
is released too late in the year.It is also the 8th top movie of all time in the UK and will most likely enter the top 5 by next weekend.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage
The superhero villain movie falls to number 3 this weekend with £2.4 Million on its second weekend of release, a 60% drop over last week.
This gives the film a total UK gross of £11.1 Million after 10 days, which puts it just behind 2018's Venom.
The Boss Baby 2: Family Business
The animated sequel makes its debut at number 4 this weekend with a gross of £1.2 Million, which is way behind the orinal The Boss Baby from 2017.
That movie, which was released in the April of 2017, had a number 1 debut with £8 Million, but after some delays, and little interest in the franchise the sequel has done a fraction of that.
The Addams Family 2
The animated sequel to the much loved TV series falls to number 5 this weekend with £885,404, a small 36% drop over last weekend, this gives the movie a total UK gross of £5.2 Million.
After a re-release in China the 2009 James Cameron movie Avatar has once again become the top grossing movie of all time after it was knocked down to second place by Avengers: Endgame in 2019.
The 3D spectacular became the top grossing movie of all time on its initial release, replacing another James Cameron directed movie Titanic, which had been there for 10 years.
Avatar was also at the top for 10 years before being replaced by Avengers: Endgame which narrowly grossed more than the $2.78 Billion Avatar took with a $2.79 Billion global gross.
It was clear that all it was going to take was a successful re-release of the Avatar movie to reclaim the top, and in a period of time when studios are being cautious about releasing new movies why not release a film which has already made its money?
The real big winner here is Disney, they of course own the Marvel Universe movies for which Avengers: Endgame is one and since the 20th Century Fox acquisition in 2019/2020 they also own the Avatar franchise, so are Disney now going to re-release the Avengers movie?
James Cameron is currently working on 4 more Avatar movies and judging from this re-release the fan base is still there and hence the future for the franchise looks promising, maybe we'll get the first $3 Billion movie once the pandemic is out of the way?
With cinemas in the US having a hard time with a mixture of closures and re-openings in different states not to mention the lack of big new releases its good to see a new number 1 movie and one starring a big name.
Robert De Niro stars in the kids movie The War With Grandpa which quite easily tops the US box office this weekend pushing Tenet down to the runner up spot.
With no big blockbuster movies hitting cinemas until Christmas there is a chance we could see a lot of yo-yo'ing on the box office iver the coming weeks, and a ot of smaller independent movies doing better than expected.

The War With Grandpa
Director Tim Hill's new movie gets released during a period when there is very little in the way of competition and coupled with its high profile star Robert De Niro the movie takes over at the top with a weekend gross of $3.6 Million.
The movie is squarely aimed at children and time will tell if it has enough for a long run at the top and with Tenet a continuous threat to reclaim the top and a new Liam Neeson action movie out this weekend it could be a short spell.
Tenet
Christopher Nolans mind bending movie falls from the top after 5 weeks with a weekend gross of $2.1 Million this weekend, 22% down from last weekend.
This gives the movie a 6 week total gross of $48.3 Million and is by a wide margin the top movie of recent months despite the fact it is being seen as a flop, but during the current time of closures what is a decent gross.
Hocus Pocus
The 27 year old Halloween favourite drop to number 3 this weekend with $1.1 Million, the movie has now taken $42.6 Million since its release in 1993.
This weekends gross is 40% down from last weeeknd.
The New Mutants
The mutant movie from Disney starring Maisie Williams falls to number 3 this weekend with $685K, 34% down from last weekend, taking its gross to $21.9 Million after 7 weeks of release.
Unhinged
Falling to number 5 this weekend is the Russell Crowe starring movie which takes $660K this weekend, 22% down from last weekend, for a very nice $19.3 Million over 9 weeks of release.
After being knocked off the top of the North American box office last weekend by Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil, Joker jumps back to the top with a very narrow margin while horror movie Countdown is the top new film.
A very interesting week on the US box office with 2 very close races, first the fight for the top, the original figures showed Joker going reclaiming number 1, but when the final figures came in not only were they higher than originally though but Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil had retained the top spot.
Also we have the other end of the top 5 where new entry Countdown was originally reported as coming in at 5 below Zombieland: Double Tap, but when the final figures were released, it was close, but the films flipped positions.
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil
Disney's Angelina Jolie starring movie retains the top spot for a second weekend with a gross of $19.3 Million, it is only $120k above the weekend gross of Joker.
The film total gross after 2 weeks of release is $66.2 Million which is perhaps a little disappointing for Disney after the marketing they put into the movie.
Joker
The DC villain movie starring Joaquin Phoenix takes $19.2 Million and remains in the runner up spot for a second weekend.
The movie only narrowly was beat by the Maleficent sequel to return to the top and in early figures was the top film of the weekend.
The movie has now taken a US total of $277.9 Million after 4 weeks and is the highest grossing R rated movie.
The film is also the top total grossing movie on this weeks top 10 charts.
The Addams Family
As we enter Halloween week the Kookie family is at number 3 this week with $11.7 Million and has a total gross of $72.8 Million after 3 weeks.
Countdown
Highest new film of the week land down at number 4 with this shock horror movie which manages $8.8 Million on its debut weekend.
With Halloween this coming weekend the film MAY get a little boost but this movie will probably move to streaming in the coming weeks.
Zombieland: Double Tap
Another sequel which is perhaps performing a bit below expectation as the Zombieland sequel takes $8.7 Million and sits at number 5 this weekend.
This takes the films total gross to $44.1 Million after 2 weeks of release.
