In a record breaking week where it becomes the top movie in the UK ever, Skyfall reclaims the number 1 spot at the UK box office.

After spending 2 week at the top, The Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn Part 2 is dislodged by the return of the 50th anniversary Bond movie. It was a close call in the end with Breaking Dawn 2 grossing £2,180,909 and Skyfall taking £2,275,469 bringing their totals in the UK to £31,373,440 and £93,769,331 repectively.

Highest new film this week is the Dreamworks animated film Rise of the Guardians which took £1,968,984, a good number in most weeks but not with the two powerhouse films that have dominated in recent weeks.

This time last year Arthur Christmas was still holding onto the top spot in the UK and £1,896,595 over the weekend, highest new film of the week was Happy Feet Two.

The festive theme continued five years ago when Fred Clause was the top new film at number one, staring Vince Vaughn the film grossed £2,275,469 on it's opening.

Ten years ago it was another year when it was all Bond, this time with Die Another Day, it was holding the top spot with a take of £5,364,433 over the weekend, and Santa Clause 2 was the highest film at number 3.
