Director Edgar Wright brings his unique style back to the cinema in this drama horror movie Last Night in Soho which is given an 18 rating by the BBFC for strong bloody violence.

As mentioned the movie is directed by Edgar Wright who is probably best known for The Cornetto Trilogy, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The Worlds End.

Movie Synopsis

An aspiring fashion designer is mysteriously able to enter the 1960s, where she encounters a dazzling wannabe singer. However, the glamour is not all it appears to be, and the dreams of the past start to crack and splinter into something far darker.

The first trailer and poster have been released for upcoming movie Last Night In Soho which can seen in full below.

The movie stars among others Anya Taylor-Joy and Diana Rigg and it is directed by Shaun of the Dead director Edgar Wright.

The tailer is totally engaging, and while giving little away about the story has the unique element of making you think "what the hell is going on" because it's so engaging!.

There is little dialogue in the trailer as it's all set to a haunting version of the song Downtown sung by the movies star Anya Taylor-Joy.

The movie has a release date of 29th October 2021 in the UK.

This week the animated series of Despicable Me in its third incarnation, imaginatively titled Despicable me 3, removed the latest Transformers movie from the top after spending just a week at the summit.

The Despicable Me movie took a decent £11 million from the weekend, the third film, or fourth if you count Minions, in the series comes in under the second film in the series but way above the original, which is to be expected.

Worth a note, last years Minions debuted with almost the exact same gross as this movie so the series has perhaps plateaued but we will only be able to tell from future episodes.

Transformers: The Last Knight falls down to number 3 this week with a weekend gross of £1.06 million bringing the films total gross to £8 million.

Transformers fall leap frogs over Baby Driver which makes its debut at number 2 this week, the much hyped film makes £3.6 million on its debut.

Directed by Edgar Write Baby Driver does better than nearly all other Write directed movies other than Hot Fuzz which was his follow up movie to the excellent Shaun of The Dead and was much hyped as well.

Also new this week is All Eyez On Me which us new at 4 with just under a million pound and quite disappointingly so The House which is new at 6 with Half a million pound.

The Boss Baby is this week the longest running film on the box office with 13 weeks and the highest total grossing with £28.5 million.

Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are reunited for a third film this week in new release The Worlds End, about pubs, drinking and the end of the world.

Their first film together Shaun of the Dead was a big hit back in 2004, and has since achieved a cult status and it's fair to say it is a British classic.

2007 saw them re-unite in Hot Fuzz which become a bigger than hit than Shaun achieving a UK gross of £20 million, it also made big stars of the 2 principle actors and director Wright.

This one completes the trilogy that has become known by the writers, Wright and Pegg, as the Cornetto trilogy, and is destined to be an even bigger hit.

I fully expect The Worlds End to be an even bigger hit, the two stars have been doing the press rounds and have been funny and likeable. A top place debut is very likely, although with Monsters University not doing that well last weekend because of the hot UK weather it might make that guarantee an uncertainty as Monsters could still rake in the audience, although the 2 films are pitched at a very different market.
