A fairly static top end of the box office charts leaves Sing at the top for a second consecutive weekend while the top new film os Rings right down at 7.

A second weekend gross of £3.8 million is enough to keep the animated feature at the top ahead of T2 Trainspotting, it brings the films total UK gross to £15.2 million.

T2 stays put at number 2 with £2.9 million but its worth noting that across the whole week it was the top film with £5.4 million compared to Sing's £4.8 million.

Top new film of the week is Rings, a reboot of 2003s The Ring. Rings weekend gross is £812,267 which is way lower than The Rings opening of £2.2 million.

The lower end of the box office has a number of new released, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter comes in at 8 with under half a million and Gold starring Matthew McConaughey is at 9.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is still the top total grossing film on the box office this weekend, currently at 13 the film has grossed £65.6 million.

A year ago - Goosebumps landed on the box office at the top knocking The Revenant to number 3 after 3 weeks at the top.

Five years ago - Sleeper hit Chronicle entered the box office at the top it knocked War Horse down to 4 after 3 weeks at the top.

Ten years ago - Dreamgirls was the new film at the top of the box office, it knocked Blood Diamond down to number 2.

Fifteen years ago - Vanilla Sky spent its second weekend at number 1 on the chart while top new film was Shallow Hal at number 3.

Twenty years ago - The Frighteners spent its second weekend at the top and in a quiet weekend there were no new releases.

Twenty five years ago - JFK remained at the top wile the top new film was Van Damme in Double Impact which entered at number 2.

Making its debut on the UK box office this week is Sing which lands at the top knocking off La La Land, and in a surprise move keeps of T2 Trainspotting.

Sing is an animated feature from the same stable as Despicable Me and features the voice talent from the likes of Matthew McConaughey and Reece Witherspoon.

The film makes its debut with a rather spectacular £10.4 million debut weekend which makes it the 66 top opening of all time.

Sing replaces La La Land which falls to number 3 this week with a £3.1 million 3rd weekend and a £20.9 million total UK gross.

Missing out on the top spot is the highly anticipated T2 Trainspotting which lands at number 2, the film is an 18 rating so the audience compared to Sing is limited, but £5.1 million is good and any other week would have easily seen the film enter at the top.

Also new this week is Hacksaw Ridge from director Mel Gibson at number 5 with £1.4 million and Rahm at number 7 with £521,000.

Highest total grossing film on the UK box office this week is Rogue One: A Star Wars Story which after 7 weeks has grossed £65.2 million while the longest running film is Trolls with 13 weeks.

T2 Trainspotting - 20 years after Trainspotting the guys are back for another dose of hard hitting, drug taking antics that will have us transfixed again.

Danny Boyle returns to direct with original stars Ewan McGregor, Jonny Lee Miller, Robert Carlyle and Ewen Bremner all returning.

Ghost In The Shell - Scarlett Johansson controversially stars in this live action version of the acclaimed manga animation, but judging from the trailer they have hit the right note.

Rupert Sanders directs what promises to be one hell of a ride in the special effects heavy take that potentially no one will understand.

War For The Planet of The Apes - The third in the excellent prequel films which tells the story of how earth became The Planet of The Apes.

Special effects and motion capture are now at a point where we can truly believe that these apes have personalities and intelligence.

Guardians of The Galaxy Vol 2 - Just from the trailer alone you know you want to see this and Baby Groot will be the highlight of the cinema year, and the film actually looks really good.

James Gunn returns to direct Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper in this Marvel franchise film.

Alien Covenant - Sequel to Prometheus and prequel to Alien, directed by Ridley Scott, not too much riding on this then.

Prometheus was Alien enough to be part of the series but individual enough to be a film in its own right, looking at the fist trailer for Alien Covenant this could bridge the gap really well, we hope so.

Fifty Shades Darker - The original film delivered far more than the source material dictated, and it was actually a good film, worryingly this time Sam Taylor-Johnson is not returning to direct.

James Foley is directing this instalment but Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan are returning so the chemistry should still be there in this much darker tale.

The Mummy - A reboot of the 1999 franchise which spawned 3 movies, but got worse with each film, this time Tom Cruise stars and the first trailer looks like we could have a winner on our hands.

Pitch Perfect 3 - Our guilty pleasure, the first film was one of the highlights of 2012 and although not nearly as good part 2 was still a lot of fun, time will tell if the idea is getting a little thin now.
