Making it four weeks at the top of the box office chart this week, and becoming the top grossing film ever in the UK in that time Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The seventh Star Wars film has not taken just about every honour the box office can give, except for highest grossing film across the globe, which it will probably leave where it is.

The figure for The Force Awakens this week are, £6 million for the weekend, £11 million for the week and £108 million total gross, it is of course the highest total grossing film on the chart.

Highest new film of the week is the 8th Quentin Tarantino film (have directors ever promoted film before by how many they have made!) The Hateful Eight which enters the chart at number 2.

The film takes £2.7 million for the weekend, £4 million behind The Force Awakens showing how popular that film still is.

The are no other new films on the box office top 10 this week.

A year ago - Tak3n (Taken 3) was the highest new film of the week knocking The Theory of Everything down to number 3.

Five years ago - Oscar winner The Kings Speech entered that box office at the top knocking Little Fockers down to number 3.

Ten years ago - King Kong remained at the top of the chart and with a static top 2 the highest new film was Just Friends at number 3.

Fifteen years ago - Unbreakable was unmovable at number 1 with the highest new film coming in at number 4 in the shape of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, good for an oriental movie.

Twenty years ago - Seven (or Se7en) was the highest new film at the top of the box office knocking Ace Ventura When Nature Calls down to number 2.

Twenty five years ago - Arachnophobia came in at the top and knocked Home Alone to number 2.

This week in the UK video sales chart best selling novel adaptation film Fifty Shades of Grey makes its debut at the top.

Fifty Shades was released in UK cinemas on Valentine weekend of this year, trying to make it as the ultimate date movie.

The film debuted at the top of the box office and quickly became the top grossing movie of 2015, at least for the early part of the year.

The film had a 7 week run on the UK box office during which time it grossed a very respectable £34.6 million making it the 62nd highest grossing film in the UK ever.

Across the globe it bake $566.7 million making it the 112th highest grossing movie ever, and of course it guarantees the sequels to be made.

Last weeks top film, Tak3n, falls down to the number 2 slot this week after a single week at the top.

Also new on the video chart are: Blackhat which makes it's debut at 11, Stonehearst Asylum which is new at 17 and Pound of Flesh which is new at 19.

Liam Neeson stars in the final of the Taken trilogy in the new film topping the sales charts in the UK this week.

Tak3n was released in UK cinemas on January 9th 2015 where it made its debut at the top of the box office with a very decent weekend gross of £6.7 million.

It remained at the top the following week and spend a total of 6 weeks on the top 15 making a sharp steady decline.

The film took a total of £17.4 million and is the 225th highest grossing film in the UK, in America is grossed $325 million and is the US 295th highest grosser of all time.

Kingsman The Secret Service falls just a single place to number 2 this week after a single week at the top.

Also new this week is: Football documentary Gascoigne about the famed footballing legend at number 4 and hard hitting drama Selma at number 10.
