The 2016 version of the source material directed by David Ayer was an interesting and enjoyable, but ultimately flawed, version of the ani-heroes that came out in the midst of the Zack Snyder take on the DC Universe.
That time has passed, and the DC Universe has largely moved on and now James Gunn, who brought us the Marvel Cinematic Universe The Guardians of the Galaxy, takes on the misfit group headed up once again by Margot Robbie who reprises her role as Harley Quinn for a third time.
The comedy here seems slapstick, and the red band trailer hints that this might be a bit more adult than the 2016 take.
There is a hint of '80's action TV show here and I couldn't help but think of The A-Team or Knight Rider as I watched, but still its enjoyable if a bit childish at times.
A new poster (see below) has also been released which backs up this 80's TV show, or Grindhouse cinema, feel.
The movie hits streaming and cinemas across the world with a release date of 6th August 2021 in the UK and USA.
It really has been the year of the remake and this week throws a little bit of a surprise for a remake of The Karate Kid which tops the chart ahead of a film version of The A-Team.
Jaden Smith (son of Will) takes the title role with Jackie Chan playing his mentor and trainer in the remake which takes $56,000,000 in the US over the weekend.
Maybe a little disappointing is the number 2 slot for the Liam Neeson headed A-Team film which can only manage a tiny $26,000,000, I really thought it would have done better on it's opening.
Shrek falls from the top to number 3 this week, and has a total US gross of $210,052,000.
