News from around the web

After a very quiet weekend at the UK box office Rango reclaims the top spot from Battle: Los Angeles.

In recent weeks the top 5 films (sometimes more) have been grossing over a million pound in weekend box office grosses, this week only Rango, and barely, takes a million. The weekend gross for the film is £1,045,326 which takes it total to £5,020,745 over a 3 weeks period.

Falling a single place this week is Battle: Los Angelies which takes £874,265 for the weekend bringing its total now to £3,454,350.

Keeping its grip on the number 3 spot is Liam Neeson's Unknown which takes £775,576 giving it a £4,496,496 total over 3 weeks, this could be a bit of a slow burner you know.

At number four we come to the highest new entry of the week which goes to show what a slow week it is, Chalet Girl starring Felicity Jones and Ed Westwick star in the Phil Traill directed movie about the goings on in a Ski resort. The film takes £677,716 over the weekend.

Another new entry is at 5 in the shape of the The Lincoln Lawyer, directed by Brad Furman and starring Matthew McConaughey and Marisa Tomei, a film about a Lawyer who uses the back of his car, a Lincoln, to do business when he gets a Beverly Hill client. The Lincoln Lawyer takes £571,836 in its opening weekend.

This week's box office was way down on this time last year when Alice in Wonderland was still at number one doing big numbers and The Bounty Hunter with Jennifer Anniston was the highest new film at two.
