Marvel's Avengers: Endgame sits at the top of the US box office again as a number of new release come in and try to de-thrown it with Pokemon: Detective Pikachu coming closest.

Avengers: Endgame

The Marvel mega hit film spends its third weekend at the top of the US box office with a weekend gross of $63 million.

This takes the films total gross to $723.5 million which means it is now the 3rd highest grossing film having overtaken Avengers: Infinity War and Black Panther, both from Marvel.

The only 2 films in its way to being the top US film ever are Avatar and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Avatar it could do by next weekend but The Force Awakens could be a hard reach.

Pokémon: Detective Pikachu

Highest new film of the week is the live action version of the popular Nintendo franchise which lands at number 2 with $58 million.

With a solid fan base and favourable reviews the Rob Letterman directed film could go on to be the top grossing Pokémon film to hit the big screen.

The Hustle

The con artist film directed by Chris Addison lands at number 3 this week with $13.5 million.

Stars Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson have a dedicated following which has helped the movie but with bad reviews this could sink quickly.

The Intruder

Starring Dennis Quaid and Meagan Good this Deon Taylor directed falls to number 4 on its second weekend and pushes the films total to $20.9 million.

Long Shot

Despite the positive buzz surrounding this film it falls to number 5 this weekend with $6.1 million pushing its gross to $19.7 million on its second weekend.

Captain Marvel

The Marvel superhero movie starring Brie Larson is on its 10th weekend this week pushes its total gross to $423.7 million in the US.

As expected with such a massive debut weekend Avengers: Endgame remains at the top of the US box office for a second weekend with thriller The Intruder entering the chart at number 2.

Avengers: Endgame

Taking a mammoth $145.8 million on its second weekend of release the Marvel film continues to reign above all else in its path, the films US gross is now $619.7 million and the 8th top grossing film ever.

The drop from last week record breaking openieng was significant but similar to other films on its genre and the films posted the second highest second weekend gross after Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

THe film has a fight on its hands to beat the Star Wars movie but its possible, it will definitely become at least the second highest grossing film in the US ever.

The Intruder

This thriller starring Meagan Good and Dennis Quaid enters the box office at number 2 on its debut weekend taking $11 million dollars.

It had no chance agains the might of The Avengers but has dome well to be the highest new film of the week against stiff competition.

Long Shot

The political comedy starring Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen enters the box office at number 3 this week with a debut gross of $10 million.

Perhaps a little disappointing really as the film would have been a good bet to be the biggest new film of the week but audiences perhaps preferring a good thrill instead.

Uglydolls

Animated comedies always do well at the box office and this is no exception as it enters at number 4 with a weekend gross of $8.5 million.

Captain Marvel

The Avengers studio mate falls from 2 to number 5 this week in the aftermath of Endgames record breaking weekend which saw a boost in this films takings.

The films takings this week are $4.3 million boosting its total gross to $420.7 million, the film is the 23rd highest grossing film ever in the US.

The film does take the honor of longest run on the US box office this week with 9 weeks of release, and still in the top 5, not bad!
