The new re-boot (the third for the franchise) stars Tom Holland and reaches the top with a £9.3 million opening weekend.

In terms of previous Spider-Man films this is fairly standard with only Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man doing far better.

Despicable Me 3 falls to second place but still manages a £5 million weekend which brings the films total gross to nearly £20 million.

With the school summer holidays fast approaching expect this film to hang around for a while.

Yet gain The Boss Baby is the longest running film of the week with 14 weeks on total on the chart and it is also the highest total grossing film with £28 million.

This version was released in cinemas on 8th July 2016 where it entered at number 2, beaten by The Secret Life of Pets on its 3rd week at the top.

The Legend of Tarzan took £3.5 million on its opening weekend and spent 5 weeks on the UK top 15, it then spent another 7 weeks in Uk cinemas before disappearing.

During that time it took a non too shabby £9.2 million, also the film didn't do too bad on the global stage taking £356.6 million.

Last weeks top film, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Out of The Shadows, falls quite hard down to number 5 this week after a single week at the top.

Also making its debut on the chart this week is: Supersonic at number 2 and Central Intelligence at number 3.

Also making a re-entry at number 4 thanks to a new version of the Blu-ray is Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.

This week saw the release of a new Star Trek movie at the global box office and as with all the others in the ‘new' universe created by JJ Abrahams it is the top film globally.

Its a softer debut than Star Trek or sci-fi is used to despite good reviews and seemingly a better film then the last one but a $89.6 million debut from 38 countries is strong enough to see it dominate.

The legend of Tarzan is at 2 this week and is getting stronger across the globe as it has a staggered release, its not performing in the US but it is globally.

The film took $51 million from 62 countries for a total global gross of $260 million to date.

Biggest news of the week is the string debut for Skiptrace, the Jackie Chan action film had a big release in Asia and from 3 countries took $44 million on its debut.

A change at the top of the world box office charts has the Ghostbusters reboot taking over from The Secret Life of Pets.

On its debut week of release the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot takes $65.1 million dollars from just 4 countries.

An excellent result for the female led Ghostbusters movie, although good reviews have helped and the marketing push to banish the negativity has certainly helped.

The Secret Life of Pets is still doing big numbers across the globe and this week despite falling to number 2 grosses $54.9 million bringing its total gross to $253.9 from 10 countries.

Highest total grossing film on the global box office this week is Finding Dory, the Disney/Pixar movie has to date grossed $721.7 million.
