Ten years ago (2010) -The number one film was Avatar which had been at the top for 8 weeks and with a total gross of £83.3 Million it was also the top total grossing film.
The top new film of the week was The Lovely Bones directed by Peter Jackson and starring Mark Wahlberg and Rachel Weisz which entered the box office at number 3.
Fifteen years ago (2005) -The number one film was Meet The Fockers which had been at the top for 4 weeks and with a total gross of £24.7 Million it was also the top total grossing film.
The top new film of the week was Shall We Dance directed by Peter Chelsom and starring Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez which entered the box office at number 5.
The film with the longest run was The Aviator which had been on the box office for 9 weeks.
Twenty years ago (2000) -The number one film was Toy Story 2 which had been at the top for 2 weeks.
The top new film of the week was The Bachelor directed by Gary Sinyor and starring Chris O'Donnell and Renée Zellweger which entered the box office at number 6.
The film with the longest run was East Is East which had been on the box office for 16 weeks.
The top total grossing film of the week was The Sixth Sense which had taken £24.7 Million after 16 weeks of release.
Twenty five years ago (1995) -Making its debut at the top was Rudyard Kiplings The Jungle Book starring Jason Scott Lee and Cary Elwes and directed by Stephen Sommers.
The longerst run on the box office and the top total grossing film was Forrest Gump which had taken £16.3 Million over 20 weeks of release.
Thirty years ago (1990) -The number one film was Honey I Shrunk The Kids which had been at the top for 3 weeks.
The top new film of the week was Driving Miss Daisy directed by Bruce Beresford and starring Morgan Freeman and Jessica Tandy which entered the box office at number 2.
The longerst run on the box office and the top total grossing film was Back To The Future Part II which had taken £10.3 Million over 14 weeks of release.
After such a strong debut from Fifty Shades of Grey last weekend the film was almost certain to retain it's lead at the top for a second weekend, which it does.
A weekend take of £4.6 million now brings the total gross of the film to £25.2 million, meaning it takes over from The Theory of Everything as the top film of 2015 so far.
It is also not the highest grossing 18 rated film in the UK, and the highest grossing R rated movie in America.
Half term week meant that the family and children's films on the chart had strong weeks, Big hero 6 and Shaun the Sheep Movie both had increases in takings from the previous weekend and hold the number 2 and 3 positions.
Highest new film of the week is The Wedding Ringer starring Kevin Hart and Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, it enters at 4 with a debut gross of £990,000.
One other new film on the top 10 this week in the shape of time travel film Project Almanac.

A year ago - A year ago saw a very static chart with The Logo Movie staying at the top and Mr. Peabody and Sherman staying at number 2.
Five years ago - Avatar went back again to the top of the box office on it's 10th week of release which the highest new film was Peter Jacksons The Lovely Bones.
Ten years ago - Meet the Fockers was still the number 1 film in the UK while the highest debut was at number 5 from Shall We Dance.
Fifteen years ago - Toy Story 2 stayed at the top of the box office for another week with the highest new film, The Bachelor, enter the chart right down at number 6.
With the school half term week and not so good weather hitting Britain the red and blue gnomes once again took hold of the box office chart leaving Paul having to make do with the second place.
Having already spent a week at the top Gnomeo and Juliet climb back up with a half term weekend take of £2,502,806 which boosts its takings over 3 weeks to a very health £12,901,447.
Last week top film falls to number two, clearly not being as kiddie friendly as the Gnomes with a gross of £2,073,462 giving it a 10 day total of £10,110,433.
Highest new entry of the week is the sci-fi thriller I am Number Four which should have appealed in numbers to the teen on half term but has a fairly mellow debut with £1,628,523.
Yogi Bear kept the kids happy over the school break and adds another £1,465,863 to its £7,635,574 total at 4 and Tangled completes a very kid friendly top 5 with £1,352,104 for a very impressive £19,130,723 total.
Again this week's box office was way above this time last year when Avatar was still at the top and closing in on being the first UK film to take £100 million at the box office, while Peter Jacksons The Lovely Bones climbed to number 2. Horror film The Crazies debuted at 3 and The Frog Princess and Percy Jackson hung around the top 5.
This week the Simon Pegg/Nick Frost written film Paul tops the UK box office chart with a weekend take of £5,517,121. The film from the producers of Hot Fuzz have taken their craft to America to make a film about a couple of geeks seeking out aliens in Area 51, only to find one that sounds like Seth Rogan.
Dropping a single place after one week is Gnomeo and Juliet which has another impressive weekend with £2,223,978 taking its total gross to £6,373,301.
Still riding a high on its award buzz, and it wont stop anytime soon with the big one coming this weekend, is The Kings Speech, another million plus weekend with £1,685,180 which brings it's total now to £37,127,599.
True Grit this week falls to number 4 with £1,466,979 while Martin Lawrence flogs a dead horse at 5 with a new Big Mommas House film, this time dragging his poor son into the equation with a weekend take of £1,433,778.
A stella weekend last week has meant that the top 7 films on the chart all took above £1 million.
Compared to this time last year the chart is much higher is grosses. Last year Avatar was still doing massive business at the box office as the 3D tax was really starting to show how far it can take the gross of a film while The Princess and the Frog from Disney was still doing well at 2, highest new entry was Peter Jackson's The Lovely Bones at 3.
He's been quiet for a bit clearly prepping upcoming project, but then after spending 5 years or more creating one of the greatest cinematic trilogies of all time he can be forgiven, but today we get the trailer for Peter Jacksons next directorial effort, The Lovely Bones.
Jackson has become the darling of Tinsel Town since the Lord of the Rings trilogy and he's working with the best of the best in Hollywood at the moment. Let's forget about King Kong and say that He hasn't yet set a foot wrong in cinema and judging from this trailer it looks like this trend is about to continue.
Based on the 2002 novel by Alice Sebold the story centres around a young girl who once murdered watches her family and friends from heaven. The trailer looks great and let's hope this December the film lives up to the promise.
