The Marvel Cinematic Universe returned to the top the box office this week with Spider-Man: Far From Home on its debut weekend knocking Toy Story 4 off the top after 2 weeks at number 1.

Spider Man: Far From Home

The first MCU film post Avengers: Endgame takes the film series back to the top of the box office with a weekend gross of £14 Million.

This is far highest than the £10 Million of Spider-Man: Homecoming, and is the 36 top film debut in the UK.

The MCU is on a massive high at the moment, and with Endgames record breaking box office run the next film in the series is bound to do well.

Toy Story 4

Thee weeks in and the Pixar movie falls to number 2 with a weekend gross of £5.5 Million which pushes the films total UK gross to £36 Million.

The films gross is going to end up well below the previous movie Toy Story 3 as that film had taken an amazing £51.5 Million 3 weeks into its run.

The film is the third top film of 2019 behind Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame.

Yesterday

Danny Boyles comedy based around the music of The Beatles falls to number 3 this week after missing out on the top spot with a weekend gross of £1.6 Million.

This brings the films total gross after 2 weeks £5.6 Million.

Westlife: The Twenty Tour Live

After the success of the Take That Greatest Hits Live broadcast a few weeks back Westlife try the same with great success and take their twenty year tour to number 4 with £899,488.

Midsommar

Director Ari Aster's new film disappointingly enters the box office at number 5 this week with a debut gross of £812,052.

The Queens Corgi

This animated feature enters the box office at number 6 this week with a gross of £520,540.

Anna

Luc bessons new movie starring Sasha Luss and Helen Mirren enters the UK box office at number 9 this week with a weekend gross of £198,390.

Avengers: Endgame

11 weeks in and now at number 14 the mega smash movie has now taken a UK gross of £88.5 Million.

This weekend, Friday 5th July 2019, there are 5 new films released in the UK looking to hit the box office, but can it challenge Toy Story 4 for the top spot?

Spider-Man: Far From Home

First up at cinemas this week is Spider-Man: Far From Home, a Sci-Fi movie directed by Jon Watts who also directed Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017 which grossed £29.7 Million.

It stars Tom Holland who last starred in Avengers: Endgame and Samuel L. Jackson who last appeared in Shaft.

Midsommar

Escape Plan: The Extractors

Next up this week is Escape Plan: The Extractors which is directed by John Herzfeld who directed Two Of A Kind in 1983.

It stars Sylvester Stallone and Dave Bautista who were last seen together in Escape Plan 2 which grossed £6,737.
