Horror movie Barbarian~2022 makes its debut at the top of the North American box office this weekend while Indian movie Brahmastra Part 1: Shiva is also new coming in at number 2.
Further down the box office there are new entries for Lifemark at number 7 with $2.2 Million and Medieval at number 14 with $810,000.
Highest new movie this weekend
The celebrated horror movie from director Zach Cregger who also directed Miss March in 2009 hits the top of the North American box office on its debut weekend of release.
In a very quiet weekend for the box office through lack of high profile releases the movie takes $10 Million on its debut.
Despite that fact the Indian movie RRR was a bit hit earlier this year in North American it is not that common for Hindi speaking film to do well in America, but given the lack of new movie this movie from director Ayan Mukerji hits number 2 on its debut.
The movie takes $4.4 Million this weekend, in comparison RRR tool $9.5 Million in March landing at number 3, but it was a far busier period for the box office.
The Brad Pitt starring movie falls to number 3 this weekend with a gross of $3.2 Million, a large 43% drop but it is on its 6th weekend of release.
The movie has taken a total of $92.5 Million at the North American box office as it looks at the $100 Million milestone.
The biggest movie of the year, so far, drops to number 4 this weekend after hitting the top spot on the last weekend of the summer, this weekend it takes $3.1 Million which is a 47% drop over last weekend, still not bad for a movie on its 16th weekend of release.
This gives the movie a total gross in North America of $705.6 Million which means it is, and most likely will be, the top movie of 2022, the movie has also made its way into the top 5 movies of all time in America as its sits at number 5.
It has a long way to go to get any higher with Avatar sitting at number 4 with $760.5 Million, this seems out of reach for a movie which is coming to the end of its box office life, but I wouldn't write off this movie to do anything just yet!
The animated movie from Warner Bros. falls to number 5 this weekend with $2.8 Million on its 7th weekend, a 44% drop giving it a total North American gross of $85.4 Million.
Mulan was about a week away from release when the world started closing down due the the COVID-19 pandemic, after a couple of new dates Disney have now removed it from their schedule until further notice.
This isn't much of a surprise as America is still deep in the pandemic with cases increasing daily and there is no sign to the end meaning cinemas are still not ready to re-open.
This may seem unfair to the rest of the world which is slowly staring to re-open and cinemas are in limited capacity accepting people in their doors, but who knows like Warner Bros. and Tenet a staggered release may happen.
This is just the latest is what is becoming a long list of films, as mentioned Tenet has been removed indefinitely and today it was announced that Bill & Ted Face The Music will get a simultaneous movie theatre and VOD release.
There are more to come I'm sure as Wonder Woman 1985 and A Quiet Place Part II are just around the corner and the virus is still months away from being controlled in the US.
A staggered global release similar to hot things were before the turn of the Millennium is possible, films used to get released in Europe and Australia often up to a year after their American release.
This was stopped primarily because of piracy and with the internet the ease of distributing pirated films, as opposed to buying the film on VHS from your mate down the pub!
25thframe.co.uk will bring you more as films get delayed.
Spider-Man: Far From Home stays on top of the US box office on its second weekend of release keeping a couple of new releases at bay in the shape of Crawl and Stuber.
The Sony/Marvel movie stays on top of the US box office for a second weekend with a gross of $45.3 Million.
This pushes the films total gross in America to a very healthy $274.5 Million.

The film takes $12 Million on its debut weekend.
Another new entry this week coming in at number 4 with a weekend gross of $8 Million.
Danny Boyles love letter to the Beatles is at 5 this weekend with a gross of $6.7 Million.
The film has now taken $48.3 Million in the US after 3 weeks of release.
