Highest new movie is the weekend is the Channing Tatum starring Dog while at the bottom of the top 15 is Aaraattu from directors B. Unnikrishnan and Anna Wieczur-Bluszcz which takes £65,000 on its debut.

Also worth noting this weekend is that Spider-Man: No Way Home has overtaken Avatar as the 5th top movie ever in the UK and is only a stones throw from Spectre at number 4, and could overtake it by next weekend.

UK box office QuickView

  • Number 1 - Uncharted (2nd weekend)
  • Highest debut - Dog (@4)
  • Longest run - Encanto (13 weeks)
  • Highest total gross - Spider-Man: No Way Home (£94 Million)

UK box office top 5 weekend breakdown 18th - 20th February 2022

Uncharted

The video game adaptation is proving to be a big hit in the UK as the movie spends a second weekend at the top of the box office with a weekend gross of £3.7 Million, a slim 20% drop over last weekend.

It is now the 4th top movie of 2022 with a total gross of £12.3 Million and further pushes star Tom Holland to be the most bankable star of the moment, in fact his movie have pulled in a total of nearly half a billion pounds at the UK box office.

In comparison the last Tomb Raider movie released in 2019 took just over £7 Million at the UK box office.

Sing 2

The animated sequel continues to do well at the UK box office and this week remains at number 2 with £3.1 Million, an almost non-existent 2% drop over last weekend.

The movie has now taken £23.3 Million over its 4 week run in the UK and although it is the second top movie of 2022 this weekend it will most likely overtake Spider-Man: No Way Home by next weekend to be the top movie of the year, so far.

Death On the Nile

The fist Kenneth Branagh movie on the box office top 5 this weekend with a weekend gross of £1.3 Million, 29% down on last weekend, pushing the movies total to £4.7 Million.

Dog

Top new movie of the weekend has Canning Tatum team up with a American war veteran dog and the couple travel across America in this action comedy.

The movie takes £822,122 on its debut at number 4 this weekend.

Belfast

The second Kenneth Branagh movie on the top 5 as the Oscar nominated movie falls to number 5 this weekend with £756,381 on its 5th weekend, a 28% drop.

This gives the movie a total UK gross of £12.9 Million and makes it the 3rd top movie of 2022.

The Ridley Scott directed House of Gucci made its debut at the top of the UK box office this weekend beating out Encanto which came in at number 3.

Outside the top 5 the cinema showing of Anything Goes: The Musical was new at number 7 with £371,879 while at number 11 A Boy Called Christmas was new with £81,228.

Finally in the top 15 was Antim at number 14 with £60,874 and Maanaadu at number 15 with £54,898.

UK box office QuickView

  • Number 1 - House of Gucci (1st weekend)
  • Highest debut - House of Gucci (@1)
  • Longest run - No Time to Die (9 weeks)
  • Highest total gross - No Time to Die (£95.4 Million)

UK box office top 5 breakdown weekend 26th - 28th November 2021

House of Gucci

Hitting the top on its debut weekend the movie stars Lady Gaga and Adam Driver in this true life drama brought to us by maverick director Ridley Scott.

The movie tops the box office with a debut gross of £2.4 Million, the lowest debut since Free Guy back in August 2021.

Although compared to director Ridley Scotts last movie, which also starred Adam Drive, The Last Duel it is far higher as that movie surprisingly underperformed.

The movie has a long way to go in order to beat Lady Gaga's last movie which was the 2018 A Star is Born which took over £30 Million at the UK box office.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife

Falling to number 2 after a single week at the top is the Ghostbusters sequel which takes just over £2 Million on its second weekend of release, a 51% drop over its debut gross.

This puts the movies total at £7.5 Million which puts it on almost the same footing at the 2016 re-boot, if maybe a little higher.

Encanto

Disney bring their latest animated feature to the big screen only, and unlike the rest of the world where it is the top movie it lands on the UK box office at number 3.

The movie makes its debut with £1.7 Million which is far better than their previous animated feature Raya and the Last Dragon which took less than a million but that was during the pandemic.

Their previous movie to that was Frozen II which made its debut in 2019 with over £15 Million, but this is a new IP and that has a massive built in audience, in all this is not great for a Disney labeled animation.

Eternals

Disney again, this time with their Marvel studios as the Chloe Zhao directed feature falls to number 4 with £586,304, a 52% drop over last weekend.

This gives the movie a total UK gross of £13.8 Million and it is the 10th top movie of 2021.

No Time To Die

The 25th James Bond movie falls to number 5 this weekend with £492,635, a 48% drop over last week which isn't bad for a movie which is 9 weeks on the box office.

The film has now taken £95.5 Million at the UK box office and it takes the honor this week of slipping up to number 3 on the list of all UK time movies having Jumped over Spectre this week.

To go any higher it needs to break the £100 Million mark, a feat only achieved by 2 movies on the UK, Skyfall and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but its probably a feat too far for this movie.

On the UK box office this weekend Ghostbusters: Afterlife makes its debut at the top after a much delayed release, meanwhile King Richard starring Will Smith is a new entry at number 5.

Lower down the box office we have Petite Maman new at number 12 with £97,321 and Exodus new at 14 with £95,042 .

UK box office QuickView

  • Number 1 - Ghostbusters: Afterlife (1st weekend)
  • Highest debut - Ghostbusters: Afterlife (@1)
  • Longest run - No Time To Die (8 weeks)
  • Highest total gross - No Time To Die (£94.4 Million)

UK box office top 5 breakdown weekend 19th - 21st November 2021

Ghostbusters: Afterlife

Coming 22 years after Ghostbusters II director Ivan Rietman, the son of original director Ivan Rietman, brings a sequel to the movies which started he much loved franchise.

The movie makes its debut with a gross of £4.3 Million which is almost identical to the 2016 Paul Feig female led reboot.

Although the movie was delayed a couple of times due to the pandemic its been released with quite a bit of hype, although critical reviews have been very mixed it seems to have been well received by audiences.

Eternals

The Marvel movie from director Chloe Zhao drop to number 2 this weekend after a couple of weeks at the top with a gross of £1.2 Million, a 58% drop over last weekend.

The movie has now taken a very reasonable £12.8 Million in the UK and is the 10th top movie of 2021 so far.

No Time To Die

Bonds 25th cinematic outing continues to do well and this week falls to 3 with a weekend gross of £940,075, a 40% drop and the first weekend it has failed to gross over £1 Million.

The total gross of the movie now sits at £94.4 Million, it is by far the top movie of 2021 and will remain there for the rest of the year.

It has now overtaken Avatar on the list of all-time UK movie and by next weekend will overtake Spectre to movie into the top 3 top movies.

Dune

The classic sci-fi adaptation from director Denis Villeneuve fall to 4 this weekend with £634,843, a 46% drop over last weekend, giving the movie a total UK gross of £20.1 Million and its the 4th top movie of 2021.

King Richard

Will Smith stars as the father of tennis superstars Serena and Venus Wiliams in the bio-pic of their rise to fame which lands at number 5 this weekend with £570,316.

Marvel's Eternals spends a second weekend on top of the UK box office in a week where there are no new releases making an impact on the box office with the biggest mover being the Princess Diana film Spencer which jumps up to the top 5 on its second week.

Top new movie of the weekend is Mothering Sunday directed by Eva Husson and featuring Olivia Coleman and Colin Firth among its cast, it enters at number 1 with £156,940 while the Clint Eastwood western Cry Macho makes its UK debut at 15 with £72,130.

UK box office QuickView

  • Number 1 - Eternals (2nd Weekend)
  • Highest debut - Mothering Sunday (@11)
  • Longest run - No Time To Die (7 weeks)
  • Highest total gross - No Time To Die (£92.7 Million)

UK box office top 5 breakdown weekend 12th - 14th November 2021

Eternals

Staying at the top of the UK box office for a second weekend the Marvel Studios movie takes £2.9 Million, a reasonable 47% drop over last weekend.

This drop is better than Marvels other 2021 movie Black Widow which dropped a massive 74% on its second weekend, but it was on Disney+ as well, but worse than Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings which only dropped 38%, but there was pent up cinema demand at the time.

The movie has taken £10.5 Million over its 2 weeks of release which is actually comparable to the other 2021 Marvel movies, but with the hype for Spider-Man: No Way Home going beyond fever pitch that movies mid December release could effect the final few weeks box office for this Chloe Zhao directed movie.

Still for a movie which has fairly unfavourable review it will end up with a £20 Million+ total UK gross which is not bad for a new IP.

No Time To Die

Daniel Craigs final Bond outing stays put at number 2 this weekend with a gross of £1.5 Million, a very slim 21% on its 7th weekend of release, which could be down to people finally deciding its safe to go back to cinemas and not wanting to miss the big screen experience.

The movie has taken a massive £92.7 Million in the UK and it will end up as the top movie of 2021, I don't think even Spider-Man: No Way Home can beat this, and with the movie coming out so late in the year much of its take will be in 2022.

The movie is still the 5th top movie of all time in the UK, but it should be able to take Avatar by next weekend and settle under Spectre and Skyfall on the top 5 UK movies of all time, it will most likely struggle to get over £100 Million in the UK though.

Dune

Remaining at number 3 this weekend is director Denis Villeneuve take on the classic schi-fi noval which takes £1.7 Million over the weekend, again a very slim drop of only 24%.

This gives the movie a total UK gross of £18.9 Million and the 4th top movie of 2021 as it prepares to overtake Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway at number 3.

The movie is now the top grossing movie in the UK for the celebrated director having just overtaken the UK gross of 2017's Blade Runner 2049.

Spencer

The bio-pic of Princess Diana goes on wider release and climbs to number 4 on the box office with £698,065, a 29% increase over last weekend where it debuted at number 6.

The movie starring Kristen Stewart as the late Princess has taken £1.5 Million in the UK after 2 weeks.

The Boss Baby 2: Family Business

Staying put at number 5 this weekend is the animated sequel which takes £574,218 on its 4th weekend, a very small 5% drop, giving the movie a total in the UK of £6.4 Million.
